Established in 2019 at the heart of the Canadian optical hub in Quebec City, LumIR Lasers is a disruptive start-up company born of a partnership between world-leading scientists at the Center for Optics, Photonics and Lasers (COPL) and the world’s foremost provider of mid-infrared fibers and components, Le Verre Fluoré inc. Our goal: to democratize the technological marvels of the mid-infrared and bring about a new laser revolution in all sectors of industry, from the production line to the operation room.
Engineer & entrepreneur with a proven track record of excellence in both technical and leadership fields. “LP” has pioneered a number of initiatives bringing together academia and industry, established a wide network of experts, mentors and partners and is a decorated speaker both at home and abroad. As CEO of LumIR Lasers, LP fosters business partnerships, oversees the company’s operations and brings an energetic, calculated drive to the company’s growth.
Vincent joins LumIR Lasers as a co-founder after years of both professional and academic work in the field of fiber lasers. He is widely regarded as one of the world’s top experts both in designing mid-infrared fiber lasers and producing them efficiently. Vincent oversees every order from start to finish, ensures the product’s performance and quality, optimizes production and resource allocation, and manages the development of new products.
Prof. Martin Bernier
Martin is both an accomplished researcher and businessman, having pioneered key fiber laser technologies such as fiber Bragg gratings and co-founded several successful ventures (Laserax, MMBC Industries, Femtum). Martin is actively involved in product design, strategy and competitive analysis. He currently holds full tenure as a professor at Laval University’s Center for Optics, Photonics and Lasers.
Prof. Réal Vallée
Réal is a world-renowned fiber laser expert, with decades of research experience and an uncountable number of scientific achievements under his belt. As director of Quebec City’s Center for Optics, Photonics and Lasers for 20 years, Réal has managed a number of large-scale scientific and infrastructural projects. He regularly advises LumIR Lasers on matters of technology, human ressources, and international relations. He currently holds full tenure as a professor at Laval University’s Center for Optics, Photonics and Lasers.
